The OpenCity name reflects our belief that Toronto’s future is unfolding before us, leaving it ‘unfinished’ and full of possibility. Unlike many other urban centers, Toronto cannot be defined by traditional landmarks or attractions.
We think that this ‘unfinished’ quality makes Toronto open like no other city — open to change, cultures and interpretation. By lending a unique perspective on urban issues, we aim to help shape Toronto’s identity and enhance the city living experience.
Inspired by Toronto, our visual story is an honest yet hopeful expression - like a field of grey with a hit of orange. In our visual story, city grids uncover novel typefaces, intimate photographs romanticize cityscapes, and psychogeographies express colour palettes.
Our visual story is one of many voices. It is the result of a creative, collaborative process: full of experimentation, competitive and cooperative validation, and open to input from our peers, friends, neighbours and strangers. This approach gives us a strategic edge. We look different because we are. This is our story.
