Opening Up

OpenCity Projects is a Toronto-based consultancy that uses strategic design to make spaces and places more meaningful experiences for city users. Putting people at the center of commercial and public space design, we fill a gap between between urban planners, architects and developers. We work along side our partners to address common urban challenges, such as safety, diversity, sustainability and aesthetics, and design spaces that people use and care about.



Our Philosophy

The OpenCity name reflects our belief that Toronto's future is unfolding before us, 'unfinished' and full of possibility. Unlike many other urban centers, Toronto cannot be defined by traditional landmarks or attractions.

We think that this 'unfinished' quality makes Toronto open like no other city — open to change, cultures and interpretation. By lending a unique perspective on urban issues, we aim to help shape Toronto's identity and enhance the city living experience.

We're passionate about cities like Toronto with their mix of people, cultures and spaces. We think that most ingredients already exist to address urban challenges that arise. Combining viewpoints and partners, we create people-centered designs.
